The first Zîa was, in truth, a banished goddess of the Yuuhzan Vong. Yun Zîa was commonly seen as a radical heretic of the True Way, much like Loki in Norse myth. She was said to protect the lower races, such as humans, from the justice that was the Yuuhzan Vong.
She had a power that none of the other Yuuhzan Vong, gods or people, could understand. No one else had this power, save for a few of the people who had once been, or ancesters had been, non-believers. None could use it.
For this reason she travelled alone to "different places" where humans and heretics lived, and it is said that this was why she looked almost human. As she traveled, she experimented with the dangerous and forbidden powers of the non-believers, and spread them to others of her kind. She returned nearly a century and a half later in a ship made of metal, instead of yorik coral, and bore human weapons.
Legend tells that Yun Zîa was to be executed by Yun Yuuhzan himself for hersay, blasphemy, treason, and contept for authority. As an extra punishment her own technology was used against her. She was shackled with her own binders at both the hands and feet.
But, using her newly-honed powers, she levitated her "fire sword," sliced through her bindings, and stole her ship back. Many of those whom she turned against the True Way escaped their punishments, and sought out their mentor. They never returned.
Except for a few anonymous attacks, and the strange defense of certain star systems that either didn't have anything to attack, or shouldn't have had the means for such defense (and couldn't have been her, anyway. Not even a goddess could live more than three millenia without the reincarnation ritual), Yun Zîa disappeared forever from the knowledge of the Yuuhzan Vong...
